Wynne,
With the Dasher you should be about 26 Minutes up with a 100 yd zero and about 23 minutes with a 250 yd zero. I look forward to seeing you at the Open.

Wynne, it is not really a new barrel, it is the Brux Britt chambered for me last year. I shot it the last 4 or 5 matches. I took the Bartlein off as I was getting flyers.Sounds as though you should have a nice trip.

Wynne,
I understand you have your Dasher’s working pretty well. I changed barrels prior to Saturday’s and I think I am at least heading in the right direction. I look forward to enjoying you company again at the Open.

When I finish annealing, trimming, deburring and cleaning my last step is to chamber every piece of brass in the gun to verify that it chambers easily. It is just one more check to verify I didn’t miss sizing a piece of brass.

Wynne,
Conratulations, that is spectacular shooting, you have a real shooter there. I see Darrel Jones was shooting there as well; I just sent him some new Lapua brass to make into Dasher brass. Keep up the great shooting. You are certainly setting the bar high, I will have to really work at trying to keep up with those aggs.

Wynne,
Congratulations on the 500 Yd. small group agg. Inquiring minds want to know, how small was it. Seems that you have a shooter there. What was the load ?

I will be watching the results anxiously as we are still a ways away from our first match. Shoot straight and small.

Dave Burkart replied to the topic 6 Dasher Sizing Die in the forum Reese Bottom Chat Room 10 years, 8 months ago
Al,
Like Wynne, I also use a Redding 6mm Dasher Bushing die. I anneal and full length size after every firing. I use a Wilson micrometer seating die with a small arbor press to seat bullets. This way I can seat them long and be able to fine tune at the range.

Dave Burkart replied to the topic Fire Forming Dasher Brass in the forum Reese Bottom Chat Room 10 years, 8 months ago
Jim,
I fireform as both Dave and Wynne do. I fireform my cases using the suggestions from accurateshooter.com listed here under FireForming using a false shoulder http://www.6mmbr.com/6improvedform.html . I use 31.8 of H-4895 and with the false shoulder it blows the case fairly well, I do a second firing and the case is fully formed with a crisp…[Read more]

Dave Burkart replied to the topic Neck Sizing in the forum Reese Bottom Chat Room 10 years, 10 months ago
Wynne,
I use carbide dies but even with them I started to have trouble with the necks not sizing properly and springing back. I always use full length sizing but that being said when I started annealing after every firing I found the sizing became much easier and the consistency was much better.

Wynne, that is certainly a good point. When I setup at Williamsport, 1000 yd., I try to always remember to lay the cross hair on the top edge of the target backer and level adjust the level so it is square to the backer. Otherwise the tracking does not stay straight. When I forget to do this it is generally quite apparent in the size of the group I shoot.

Wynne,
It is truly the curse of the flags, I have a hard enough time attempting to get all 10 bullets on the paper without having to try and figure out the flags. Especially which one to use the close ones or the more distant. It seems that when I attempt holding it is usually not enough or too much. I guess this is the reason we all keep coming…[Read more]

Dave Burkart replied to the topic Neck tension in the forum Reese Bottom Chat Room 11 years, 1 month ago
Al & Wynne,
I have experimented slightly with neck bushings, in that I used a 267 bushing initially for the Dasher and found it was seating a little to easily for my tastes. I then went back to a 266 bushing and that made it better, this was with a 2704 chamber. I just purchased a Benchsource Annealer and must say it certainly makes resizing the…[Read more]
