Wynne,
Glad to see GoDaddy got everything straightened out. The range looks great, I all the Covid19 craziness slows down to the point where we can at least get some shooting in. Stay safe and stay healthy.Dave

Wynne,
Happy New Year to you and Suze!!! Sounds as though you have made some great upgrades at Reese Bottom. I will be interested to know how you find shooting with the Shot Marker system. It seems it would be a great asset for matches and especially for working up loads.

Will you make it up to Williamsport for the Open this year? Roger is a true gentleman and a great competitor,he won the Heavy Gun score at the World Open last year shooting a Dasher!
Congrats on the hardware you brought back from the 1000 Yd match.

Jeremy,
You chose a great smith. Britt built the first custom long range gun I purchased, although Britt built it for Wynne first. It is a 6 BR that will typically shoot better than I can. The picture below was taken at Williamsport during the 2013 World Open, five shots in 1 1/2 inches, it was fabulous. Unfortunately we shoot 10 shot groups, so…[Read more]

Surrell,
I use an Ohaus Adventurer that is accurate to .02 of a gn. As Wynne previously mentioned it allows you to weigh by kernels of powder. I don’t think you can get much more accuracy without cutting kernels in half and I am not resorting to that.

Allen,
Good to hear that things are moving towards Spring in WV. They are a little slow in the NE but I think we may hit 70 this weekend. I have been shooting H-4895 in the Dasher with the PB 105’s with I believe 32.4 gn and CCI450. I will check on the load when I get home but that load seems to work pretty well.
See you in Willamsport..…[Read more]

Dave Burkart replied to the topic Pierced Primers !! in the forum Reese Bottom Chat Room 5 years, 2 months ago
Wynne, I have had good success when fireforming after DJ hydraulicly forms the brass by loading the brass in the gun and closing the action then ejecting. I then use feral primers, soft, and jam the bullets .020, twenty thousandths. This seems to alleviate the misfires and pierced primers.

Great read Wynne, I am in the no turn 2.704 camp and so far have resisted even cleaning up the necks. I do however use a .266 nitride neck bushing when I full length size the case after annealing. I am ending up with about .0015 neck tension and it seems to work for me. When I used a .265 bushing things seemed to not be as consistent. I think you…[Read more]

Wynne described my adventure of the pierced primers well. Thanks to Wynne I was able to complete the relay. All in all it was a great weekend with lots of good shooters from all over . Robert McMichael from Mississippi was there and started the weekend off with a 4″ 100 . A heck of a start for a newcomer to Williamsport. There were a number of…[Read more]
