Wynne Echols started the topic A Few More Random Thoughts !! in the forum Reese Bottom Chat Room 5 years, 5 months ago
Twenty four is enough. Until we can come up with a workable solution, all matches held at Reese Bottom will be limited to a max of twenty four[24] good shooters. Because we only have four targets, that is enough. If the demand for spots becomes a problem, we can hopefully come up with a workable solution. Please kick this idea around in your…[Read more]

In this topic, I would like to list a few things that every shooter planning to shoot a match at Reese Bottom agrees to in advance of attending a match. The intent here is to create an environment where every shooter agrees to police or manage themselves and not have to be openly called out in case something out of the ordinary happens. My wish…[Read more]

Sonny, you make some good suggestions here. I can definitely better inform the good shooters of the task before them earlier in the mornings. The coaching can be stopped for sure but in my opinion completely clearing the concrete pad is a bit of a stretch due to the shade provided, the cooking, and the seating provided by the picnic table. Thank…[Read more]

I forgot to mention a special Thank You to Scott Parten for agreeing to meet me at 5:30 am to set up the targets and for also being so willing to help with the data entry for all the shooters. Brett Collins showed up early enough that he also had to help with the targets. Steve Gilly fed us all deer sausage for breakfast and John Sanders…[Read more]

We made it. It was a very long, hot day at Reese Bottom but we managed to accomplish what many of us had never done before, shoot a target at 1000 yards. Thanks to the Boykin brothers who were so kind and thoughtful to bring a generator and big fan that probably saved some of our lives. I have asked for the last couple of weeks to come and…[Read more]

Thanks Danny. It has been a pleasure to welcome you and Albert into the fold at Reese Bottom. If you have not noticed already, you had the small group of the day at 1000 yards, a 4.31″/5 shot group. Congrats. WWE

Hope everyone had safe travels home. I am totally exhausted and will not get the website updated tonight. Hopefully sometime tomorrow night. I will say that I noticed a few things today that will be done a little differently in the future. For sure, you good shooters will not compete against that many other good shooters at Reese Bottom any…[Read more]

Friday morning thoughts. Mike Boykin has offered electricity, he still needs a fan. If you are shooting in the .308 division, please arrive on time so that we might get an early start. With that being said, if you arrive later in the morning, please do not drive too close to the firing line and please, everyone, do your coming and going from…[Read more]

Mike Boykin just called and said that he has a shop fan and a generator that will pull two fans if anyone has one that they think will work. Please come prepared for a very hot day and plan to stay hydrated. It is setting up to be a long day. Again, if you are shooting in the Open Bi Pod division and want to come a little later, plan to show up…[Read more]

Sonny Korner has texted to let me know that he will be shooting .284 in the mechanical division. That makes thirty two and that is enough. WE ARE FULL. Eight relays of four good shooters. We have a very good split with good groups of shooters in all three divisions. The Open Bi-Pod division has the most good shooters with 14 signed up. We…[Read more]

As of Tuesday night we have 27 good shooters signed up. Should be an interesting day for everyone. Please come prepared to stay a while, not sure how quickly things will go. Remember, this is a first. There is a little info missing. Ron W., Buddy W., and Jennifer, what type front rest are you shooting on? Albert Pitchford, what caliber rifle…[Read more]

Well, it is finally shoot week. Richard Allen called and will be shooting his 6.5 X 47 in the mechanical division. Looks like we will have a good crowd. I hope everyone comes prepared for the 1000 yards. So far, no one has mentioned needing any help with their scope dope. It has rained here everyday this week and I have gotten behind on some…[Read more]

I forgot to mention. Once the divisions determined, I will announce the order that the divisions will shoot. The match will be 4/5 shot record targets and the shooter will shoot all four targets at one sitting. Please post your comments and questions here in this topic. WWE

I’ll begin by wishing everyone a safe, fun July 4th. How many of you knew that our nation’s day of Independence was actually July 2nd? Supposedly we let the British know that we were declaring our Independence on July 4th. Your daily history lesson.
Now for the notice of the upcoming shoot on Saturday July 18, 2020. Another first I’ll have…[Read more]

Fellows I apologize for what happened yesterday with the strange person that was able to register on the forum. There have actually been others before but they were more easy to identify. It appears that someone maybe up to no good registered on the forum and sent out a notice to some if not all of the forum members today. Not sure about this but think it is the first time for such a thing here on the forum. I do not know this person and have deleted them as a user. Let’s watch it going forward and see what happens. I would like to remind everyone that we will have some biscuits and sausage for breakfast tomorrow morning and probably a hot dog and chips for lunch.
