  • Still looking for new ideas for the chat forum. Does anyone have an idea how to make this thing work? Google Analysis says that over 100 people have viewed the site since Sunday and yet only 7 have bothered to go vote on the poll. Would welcome a personal message if anyone has new ideas. Thanks, WWE

  • Looking back at last Saturday’s Mid-Range Prone match at Reese Bottom, one could tell that there was plenty of prone talent on the grounds. Being relatively new to this type of shooting(only 7 matches), I often feel that there is a lot that I do not yet understand. As I see it, a good shooter can read articles, watch video, ask questions, and…[Read more]

  • Mr. Al, Mr. Gilley has set the bar mighty high. When he gets that neck and shoulder well, he will be hard to handle. There was another good shooter that had a personal first that I failed to mention. Sam Ent?????(sp), my personal scorer, mentioned that he shot his first clean target with a sling gun. Congratulations Sam, division winner.…[Read more]

  • Mr. Bob, I did read through the rules this afternoon while I was supposed to be working and I found the rule about the boards. 12 X 24 seemed to be the max but my question is about the 2 inches. Do the rules allow for 2″ outside each leg or 1″ outside each leg for a total of 2″? A Harris Bi-Pod is a lot narrower than many of these newer wider…[Read more]

  • Brett, good to hear from you and so glad that you found Reese Bottom. Either you are fudging on ‘the first time’ or you are a very fast learner. Being your first time, how did you fair with that much shooting? I was standing behind all of the shooters and I sensed that several, including myself, fatigued down the stretch. Hope to see you soon. WWE

  • Mr. Bob, I am shooting 80 gn Bergers, lapua brass, CCI BR 4 primers, 24 gn Varget, in a 1X8 twist brux barrel, and a trued Remington action. Looking back, I leaned on the rifle pretty good and it just did not seem as stable as I would like. If this weather will ever break, I plan to do some load testing and also work on my set up. 584 is my…[Read more]

  • I am looking for new content for the website. If any of you good shooters would make a video and get the footage to me, I will get it published and give you credit. I wish that someone or several would write a blog for the site. This would be a wonderful way to express an opinion. Photos are needed. Link to another site with an interesting…[Read more]

  • I have added a new poll to the home page. Please take time to vote. Discussion in the forums has really slowed down. There seems to be two types of people when it comes to forums. Those who try hard and give up because no one responds and those who think they are not knowledgeable enough to voice their opinion. I have been amazed that good…[Read more]

  • Mr. Bob, thanks for coming to Reese Bottom and we hope to see you soon. The photo made it so please go to explaining. The site does not allow large mb photos to upload, you made it, but just keep in mind that some photos taken with SLR cameras need to be resized. Thanks for your input. WWE

  • Do any of you good shooters know where a fellow could find a simple list of FTR and F-Open rules? I was not at all satisfied with the stability of my set-up Saturday and I noticed several shooters with different types of platforms that looked really stable. Is this an if-it-works-use-it thing or are there limitations as to what can be used.

    Is…[Read more]

  • Steve, congrats on the new personal best. Great shooting. As far as the scoring error, not sure how it happened but I do apologize. I will say that if a shooter’s relay sheet is added before it is turned in, we do not double check. I would hope that both the scorer and shooter double check before turning the sheet in. If this was an entry…[Read more]

  • Doug, thanks for the suggestions. Question, were you putting pressure on the 2X4 or just touching? When the bullet hits, is the feel faint or very noticeable? Thanks for your willingness to always help. WWE

  • Does anyone care to share their thoughts about their Saturday experience? We are always looking for ways to improve the matches at Reese Bottom and with honest feedback we can accomplice things. I thought that we got off to a slow start. Are we too pushy, or do you need to be prodded along. Then we left the pit crew in the pits longer and it…[Read more]

Please, do not feel sorry for Steve. We hope all is well with you Mr. Mike. See you next time. WWE

Now, looking back on yesterday, I guess you figured out which one is the right shoulder. You will get no more sympathy from me and I do not even shoot the Open class. Must say that I am very impressed. 59 out of 60 inside 6 inches at 600 yards. Ouch! Not much room for improvement but that is okay. Congrats, WWE

Mr Bob, thanks for coming yesterday and you are welcome back anytime. It is fun to meet and shoot with new people each month as Reese Bottom continues to grow. Congratulations on the fine shooting yesterday. You F-Open guys get after one another. Thanks again, WWE

  • Well the results are in the books and Reese Bottom is hanging her head. All these good shooters tormented her yesterday. I have heard it said that rain will never mess up a good rifle shoot. I hope everyone got home alright because has soon as I got everything unpacked it started raining and has been raining since. Must have been good shooting…[Read more]

  • I know this is a little late, but it would appear that we have caught a break with the weather. It has not rained here yesterday or today. We will plan on shooting the mid range prone match as scheduled tomorrow. It is wet at Reese Bottom so I would suggest that everyone wear rubber boots. When you turn off of the main road, stay to the right,…[Read more]

  • 5:00 pm update. The sun is shinning and the sap is rising. More of the same tomorrow would make for a nice Saturday. Keep those fingers crossed. WWE

  • Dave, Darrell Jones is actually the match director at Steel City and does an outstanding job keeping us knuckleheads in line. I read a thread on another website where a bunch of good shooters were really bragging on the great job he does forming brass. I’m sure you will be very satisfied. My only concern would be that if he forms that brass…[Read more]
