Wynne Echols replied to the topic Shotmarker e-target in the forum Reese Bottom Chat Room 6 years, 3 months ago
Ken, we actually did this at the bench rest match held last Saturday. I am going to attach a photo of a shotmarker target to help explain. If this does not come across as helpful, call me on the cell 334-654-2462. What a person sees on a live screen using the Shotmarker system is basically the same format each match. A different match might…[Read more]

Not sure where this is taking us, but I am sure something can be learned. First off, a couple of weeks ago I tested a load of H 4895 for the first time trying to get the muzzle velocity up to 2925 fps. After a short ladder test we determined that 30.9 gn of the H 4895 generated approx 2925 fps. I load up 5 and shot them on paper at 300 yards,…[Read more]

Richard, this is my info from November. I was shooting the Dasher, H4895 = 31 gn, Vapor Trail 103 gn, 28 inch barrel and the muzzle velocity a few days before was approx.
2925 fps. Saturday it was somewhat colder but at the target my first two targets avg.
1835 fps and the second two targets a couple of hours later and warmer avg. 1856 fps. I…[Read more] -

I was just looking over the sheet that all of our Saturday scores were written on and noticed an interesting number. We had twenty good shooters and each shot twenty record rounds for a 400 shot total. There was a total of 14 ‘Xs’ recorded on the day. On the second target, no shooter recorded an ‘X’. On the forth target, the ‘Gunny Pot’…[Read more]

I am sure that all of you remember when Ali would run his mouth and then back it up with his fist. Well, Reese Bottom has a boastful shooter also. Thanks to the camera man, we have Master Champion Sniper, Surrell Franklin, predicting his number one finish this month in the F-T-R division. lol

It was a bench rest match attended by twenty good shooters.{but because of the winds, the results were not real good} I have updated the home page, the photo page and the results page. I think that 2019 has been a great year at Reese Bottom with a lot of…[Read more]

Yes, you certainly can shoot a muzzle brake at the Reese Bottom bench rest matches.
I plan to have something for breakfast and lunch for those interested. Might even bring the coffee pot.
Plans are to have some coal for the heater if some of you early birds would get the thing started.
Hopefully we are going to catch a break with the weather.…[Read more]

I have finally found something that could make me quit shooting. I recently ordered 25/1000 yard F Class targets from Pistoleer. When they arrived I thought the box was somewhat heavy. Turns out the darn things come in four pieces about 4′ X 4′ and you have to put them all together. I had bought four pieces of 4′ X 4′ plastic waferboard not…[Read more]

I am attaching the Shotmarker target photo and the information collected on the second target that I shot this past Saturday.[199] All of this is saved to the system and is available. Remember this is the .223, lapua brass, 24.5 gn varget, and Sierra 90 gn bullets, wolf primers. The lab radar says they are leaving the muzzle at 2760 fps. WWE

David, not trying to create an issue here, but brakes are not allowed when we shoot prone. Shooters are very close together at Reese Bottom and it is not fair to shooters next to the brake. We allowed it once and it did not work out well. We have had several people in the past to unscrew the brake for a match. Another option would be to shoot…[Read more]

David, the weather app says 73* with a 40% chance of rain. That’s all we have to go on. This is a different type match than the last time you were here. Prone shooting and no muzzle brakes. Those not able to shoot prone can shoot from a bench. If you are shooting, I would like to know the caliber rifle so that I can have the computer ready…[Read more]
