Tony Graham replied to the topic 1st step after cleaning barrel ???? in the forum Reese Bottom Chat Room 11 years, 3 months ago
Dan,
I don’t think it is oil that is slowing you down. I think it is the increased friction from the extremely clean barrel. The fouling from the prior jackets will fill any imperfections in the bore making it slick.
When we shoot a clean barrel at 1,000 yard the first bullet down the tube will be approximately 1 MOA lower than the second. I n…[Read more] -

Wynne, I think that it might be your Bi-pod and rear bag. I would recommend the Sinclair type bi-pod and a square of carpet w/ a regular rear bag. I noticed the guys using that type set up did not have a problem returning to battery. I know I had a hell of a time shooting from a Harris Bi-pod during the April match from bench and I’ve shot that w…[Read more]

Roland,
As I’ve said before F-Class is not my game of choice. You having shot “43” F-class matches have considerably more of an understanding of the NRA rules than I. Which is why I asked you expound on your previous answer of “No”! I shoot International 1,000 yard Benchrest. Here is you a link to the NRA INTERNATIONAL FULLBORE PRONE RIFLE RUL…[Read more] -

I probably should have left that in my back pocket. But what the hay! Wynne you know that I’ll let slip whatever info I have to help anybody. The game we play, one must stay on the edge. Wynne you may remember Fletcher. You shot against him at Yukon at the Nats. GA Boy from Hotlanta. He does not talk much unless he knows you.

Wynne,
you are correct! The only NRA sanctioned F-Class matches I ever shot were at Bogue Chitto and Pascagoula. The last year I shot at each they started doing the Convertibles, they have been in the rule book since 2010. If my memory serves me right, I think we did 5 sighters on the first string of 20 and 2 for the second two strings of 20. No…[Read more] -

Here is Scott Fletcher’s load development:
“I am no 240 expert. However, based on my recent tinkering with 240’s and last weekend’s 1000 yd LG match results (3.823/50; 4.115/49; 2 shoot-off wins), I offer the following comments:The PA bunch probably has the best collective wisdom on the 240’s. Their concensus is a 10 twist barrel w/ sweet-spot…[Read more]

“Convertible Sighters” are not an issue for me. I was just needing to know how many rounds to load for the match. I was also trying to get a little clarification on the sighters.
According to the NRA International Fullbore Prone Rifle Rules January 2013, paragraph 9.2 “Convertible Sighters – At the competitor’s option, he or she may elect to ke…[Read more]

I don’t think much of it matters! I think it is 75% mental. There are things that I do, that I’ll not discuss that to me make all the difference in the world. When I sit down at the bench and did not do everything in my arsenal, it will show up on the target. I’ve won the big show at 1K, my wife has placed high at the nats and my nine year old h…[Read more]

Like Steve, I think I was born to shoot. One of the photos of my toddler years shows me holding the old chrome plated revolvers. But I don’t think it is the shooting with me. I think it is the tinkering with the cases. I find myself wanting to change case dimensions constantly. It must be the mechanics of the interior ballistics of a center fire t…[Read more]

Dan,
I am planning on making the shoot. The issue is that since I am a MS resident the transfer has to go through an FFL to cross the state line. I’ll talk to Britt about it and he may be able to handle the transfer. -

I heard a couple of guys at the April Match talking about my Sure Feed. It sounded like some folks would like to own one. I’ve got the manufacturer making me some for sale. These will be machined for the 6mm BR/Dasher. They will also work for .243 Win, .260 Rem, .260 AI, 7-08, and .308 Winchester. They will hold 10 in the vertical with 5 s…[Read more]

I use 0000 Steel Wool and a Sinclair Case Driver on a cordless drill! All of my cases are sorted for either Sighters or Record and numbered according to which row in the ammo box they sit. This does not allow for bulk cleaning. I use a Sinclair Primer Pocket uniformer driven by the drill to remove carbon from the pockets. I don’t clean the i…[Read more]
