Good article and video on Accurate Shooter on the effects of bullet stability as it approaches the transonic zone of flight. Bryan Litz says that this is a very bad zone for bullets to have to fly through and a long profile bullet starts to pitch and yaw. Some bullets do better than others but all go through this unstable condition. The flight path from there on to target is unpredictable! Interesting read.

Steve, I think we witnessed this first hand last Monday trying to push those 140 grain Bergers a mile. I still scratch my head at how much that gentle breeze moved that bullet side ways. Don’t think I ever mentioned how much that I enjoyed spending the morning with you and Johnny. Great time and a lot learned. WWE
