Sunday night August 30, 2026. We are now three weeks out and the time has come start making preparations for the Alabama Long-Range Championship to be held on September 19 & 20, 2026 at Reese Bottom. The entry fee for the match is $100. I will have sausage/biscuits and coffee both mornings and we will have grilled hamburgers and hot dogs with chips and drinks for lunch on Saturday. If you are signed up for the match and are bringing someone with you, please mention here so that we can have enough of everything. Do not forget the Buy/Sale table if you have an item or two that you need to get rid of. The prize table will be set up on Sunday, and everyone will need to check it out before the end of the match at which time the drawing will be held. Each shooter will be assigned a number, and we plan to draw a numbered chip from a bucket to determine the order of winners. Trophies and prize money will be given out at the conclusion of the match on Sunday also. I am thinking that we will be done around lunch or shortly after. Lunch will not be served on Sunday but anyone that might want to hang around, the group could go to the local cafe for a meal. Fixing to save and keep going below. WWE

I have lost a long list of typed items before, and I hate typing something twice. Here is the plan: Friday September 18: 1:00 pm-until, range open for practice, registration funds accepted, t-shirts and sweatshirts for sale. Good time to setup tents, etc. Saturday September 19: please be on site by 7:00 am. The bench shooters and the first ten good shooters will be staged in their personal 4′ space. All other good shooters will be directed as to which end of the shooting shed they will need to stage their stuff so that they will be able to setup while the other end of the shed is shooting. For the prone shooters we have ten 4′ spaces and the left will be setting up while the right is shooting and vice/verser. Please, do not fret over this, we will make it work. About 7:30 Saturday morning we will have a safety meeting and discuss any questions that a good shooter might have. We plan to begin the match shortly after 8:00 am and once we start we do not intend to stop of any length of time. All good shooters will be expected to eat and hydrate while not shooting and be prepared when their time comes.

The bench shooters will shoot first both days. Saturday, the FTR guys will shoot first and that will make them go last on Sunday. On Saturday, all three relays will be twenty shots of individual fire. Please understand that we only have the five targets which means that everyone cannot shoot at the same time. I will try my best to mix up the order from Saturday and Sunday. From experience, the later morning relay is often better shooting than the middle relay. We have never gone later in the afternoon so that should be new for everyone. Plan to deal with mirage more so than wind.

Sunday September 20 please be on site by 7:00 am and around 7:30 we will have a safety reminder and short discussion if anyone has questions. The benches will shoot first and ten open shooters will prepare for pair fire competition. We should have a bench relay followed by ten open shooters followed by eight open shooters followed by seven ftr shooters. Sunday will consist of two twenty shot relays with the bench shooters shooting individually and all prone shooting done by pair fire.

Sunday when the FTR guys finish their second relay we will crown our winners and draw for the prize table items.

Mr. Wynne just a heads up I told you last match that the doctors are pushing me to replace my pacemaker which could keep me getting shoot, I met with the doctors this week they told me they needed to do it now and after telling them how important this match was to me they got everything in hurry up mode and the plan is replacing it this Thursday and they have promised me barring unforeseen problem I will be release in time to shoot this match. So “good lord willing and the creek don’t rise”
Me and my new supped up pacemaker plan on manning bench #1

Plans are to time the relays with the ‘Big Red Clock’. The good shooter will be given twenty minutes on the first relay Saturday and relays two and three will be given eighteen minutes. If things get delayed for some reason, please understand if we try to speed it up a little. If everyone comes prepared, that should not be necessary. My biggest pet peeve is a noisy firing line. Please respect my wants here. If you are setting up while others are shooting, please at all times stay behind their muzzle and not be carrying on conversation with those around you. In other words, be respectful of the shooter at all times. If you are shooting and get finished before others in your relay, please stay put and do not get up and start moving your stuff. We will have plenty of time to get things moved. The shooter will need to stage their stuff on the end of the shed that they will be coming and going from. Do not worry about this, you will quickly figure out what is expected. If you are not shooting or setting up your stuff, you will be expected to vacate the area. [out beyond the potties at your tent] We will be using Shotmarker E-targets and the program allows a good shooter to see the scorecard at any time to see how you stand against the field. You are encouraged to visit the scorecard to make sure that your scores were recorded properly. Anyone not familiar with the program can ask for help from someone more familiar.

Before I go, at this time we have one bench spot available. Please help fill this. Any questions out there, ask them here. WWE

Here is the plan. The Saturday portion of the match will be 3 X 20 X 1000 yards. Each relay will be time by the ‘Big Red Clock’. Relay one will be 20 minutes and relays two and three will be 18 minutes each. We have found these to be generous times. The good shooter can shoot unlimited sighters but is expected to have all record rounds recorded before the clock strikes zero. Any unrecorded record rounds not fired during the allotted time will be scored ‘0’. [should not happen]

For the open and ftr divisions, the Sunday portion of the match will be pair fire to qualify for the V2 points. Before the first relay, plans are to have a three minute ‘blow off’ period and then go into the V2 portion that allows for two convertible sighters plus the twenty for record. The second Sunday relay will be two convertible and go.

All five bench relays will be timed by the clock and shot as usual. We ask that we be allowed to mash the ‘Begin’ button as in the past. A good shooter should not have to worry with logging in or out at any time during the weekend. Reminder that anyone can view the scorecard at any time. Anyone needing help, just ask someone. Time to get excited. WWE

For those that have never been to Reese Bottom, here is my suggestion. Type in the address, 125 Plantation Drive, Linden, Alabama 36748. That is the address of the house at the top of the driveway. You are almost there. A couple hundred yards past the house the road forks. Stay to the right. You will pass the hay shed and some hunter’s trailers and the road forks again. Stay straight on the dirt road and you will go under a railroad and across a large creek and shortly look to the right. You are there. We should have a sign up welcoming everyone.

Click the photo below to enlarge. We will be selling t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts at the event. T-shirts = $20; hooded sweatshirts = $30. Buy the combo = $40. We only have large, X large, and XX large. Bargain prices and they need a new home. [Please]

Still have two prone positions unclaimed. Don’t forget the Buy/Sale Table. WWE
