ParticipantMr. Wynne has asked us to make use of the web site and that is about as much too do with this article as anything. This is the same Mr. Wynne that has let us enjoy Reese bottoms and the only thing he has asked is to come prepared to compete.
Sight alignment and Trigger control is a phrase I learn back in my days of running with the Police pistol combat (PPC) crowd in the late 70’s early 80’s. One of those shooters was the Late great Sgt. Jim Collins. One day when he and I were setting around chewing the fat He started explaining to me the importance of this term and how he practiced this by dry firing almost every day. Ok by now you’re thinking this is about pistol shooting which has nothing to do with what we do at Reese Bottoms well hang on I’ll get there, Because of work and raising children I drifted away from shooting pistols but after the kids were grown, I got in to Hand gun Silhouette. One year Patti and I travel out to Oregon to shoot in the West coast Championship during that week I met and became friends with Mike Able A pretty good shooter and part time gun builder (later years he’s the one that steered me to the 6BrX) If your still with me post a comment telling me you read this far without telling me or anyone else you read this far. The day I shot my production gun (10’ barrel open sight out to 200 meters) Mike afforded to spot for me I was clean though the 50 and 100m. but fell apart on the 150-meter Turkeys after the third miss Mike looked at me and ask where were your sights when the shot broke and I had to tell him I don’t know! At that time, I heard Jim Collins voice say sight aliment and trigger control. During my journey this is one of the many things I reflected on and I said if I ever got to shoot again that was one of the things I was going to work on. In my June match report (if you read it) I said I was in control of most of my shots and there were only about 4 of my 9’s I was not expecting when they popped up on the screen. Meaning the cross hair was right where I wanted it and it stayed there the whole time I squeezed the trigger and the shot broke. I was in control of those shots but you say those shots were 9’s your right but not because I move the cross hair during the shooting process but probably because I had the cross hairs in the wrong place lol. My process of Trigger control like most other things is different than most of you, I prefer a heavier trigger than most, my triggers are closer to 3 pounds than three oz. I like to feel my trigger, my Striker triggers are set up as two stage triggers which allows me to “feel” the trigger as I check and recheck the crosshair placement (sight alignment) as I squeeze the trigger (trigger control) and do another part of the shooting process which is called follow though then I know if the crosshairs moved during the trigger pull. And if I ask myself where were the sights when the shot broke hopefully, I can answer myself This is just random thoughts from an idle mine. But maybe it will jump start some to tell their story of their shooting process which I think would make Mr. Wynne very happy
On a side note Wed. A former coworker and PRS shooter invited me to go shoot with him I was more interested in getting more break in rounds on the 223 than anything after about 30 rounds on the 223 I pulled out the 6BrX he said ok we got plates from 300 to 1150 but not exact yardage he said I going to point out the target and tell you the yardage (PRS kinda stuff) I had 1st shot hits on all out to 1k when I got to the 1150 the app said 38.5 for 1100 and 45.4 for 1200 being a know it all after cleaning the others I put in 40 wrong answer 2 misses I reevaluate and put in 42 and shot DING, second shot DING so now my longest shot to date with the 6 BrX is 1150 yards after I finished I expand the app to every 50 yards 1150 =41.9 a total of 168 clicks with the 107 dropping a total of 555 “ and taking 2 seconds to make the trip. For long time I had a goal to shoot one of my long range handguns out to 1k Mr. Wynne made that happen last year, I bested that yesterday by another 150 yards

KeymasterWay to go Richard. We have many that do a whole lot less with a whole lot more barrel.lol Steve Gilley and I were standing behind you while you were shooting last weekend just shaking our heads at how well you can shoot that short barrel. If you want to try to shoot the .223, I can load up the Dasher. Let me know. Looking forward to the 17th. WWE
