On Saturday September 18, 2021 Reese Bottom welcomed thirteen good shooters to a long range prone match. We caught a break in the weather and were able to finish things before more rains came. Congrats to the winners this month in a match that consisted of two relays of twenty shots each all at 1000 yards. Both of the winners each cleaned a target which is quite impressive for country boys shooting at that distance. See the results page, photos page and the home page. Thanks again to everyone for their support of the matches at Reese Bottom. WWE

I had a great time as well. I really appreciate the opportunity to shoot. A lot of time and effort has been spent for us being able to do this and I don’t always remember to say thank you like I was taught so thank you.

I need to spend more time listening to what my sighters are telling me.

Amazing how we only hear from the winners. lol Well, I kept waiting for the monthly ‘Richard Slaton Report’ before I tell my tale of woe but he must be busy so here I go. I learned from the match last Saturday that I have the ability to recognize when a rifle is not shooting like it should. As you all know, I pulled the bolt and installed a chamber flag and did not shoot the second relay. The thing was not going where it was pointed. Here is the story and I hope there is something to be learned. After the match Saturday, most of you had left and Scott and Kenneth were down range taking down the Shotmarker E-target system. Richard Allen and myself were under the shed talking about things and he asked if I minded if he looked at my rifle. I said sure, the thing want shoot and you can do whatever with it. He gets out his allen heads and finds out that every screw, action and scope, on the thing is loose. The rifle has less than 200 rounds fired and I torqued each screw originally with a Wheeler torque tool. I think the lesson here is to check your stuff often and not assume that everything is as it should be. I just got off the phone with my friend from PA. and he told me that he checks all this before each match. My shooting is a work in progress. WWE
