Richard SlatonParticipantGetting to this match started a little shaky when Mr. Allen said he had an obligation and would not be going so I started checking with my family 1st. Up was my son but he had to work next up my granddaughter she first told me she could but then had to cancel, I already knew my daughter was very busy with working on state board certification but after all else failed she told me she would because she knew how important it was to me. Soo here I’m. On the way down she started talking/ reminding me that next week I turn 73 and she wanted me to enjoy life the best I could and to keep climbing that mountain and she knew Reese bottom was one of those mountains. I told her my “match report or as Steve called it a narrative she said daddy you need to let me proof read before you post I told her NO that would take all the fun out of it. I call her the “ grammar Nazi” lol
On to the match
Goals for the match make Wynne smile, not cause any problems which includes Don’t cross fire, keep all relays in the 190’s
I felt good going into the match because of a few problems that thought maybe I had solved over the last couple months and had seen some improvements last match, nothing that would cause me to win just make feel/ shoot a little betterRelay 1 the first mountain of the day
When I went to the line I thought the conditions were pretty mild and I felt good the first 3 sighters low 9’s with me slowly coming up a click between each but on the fourth shot an 8 from out of nowhere popped up but the next two were 10’s ready or not going for record the first 16 shots mixture 10 and X’s then the only 9 of the relay popped up last three shots were 2 10’s and another X for a score of 199 7X which is a new high at 1K for me.Relay 2
Long story short before leaving this morning I had a thought “scary “ I’m going to reseat relay two bullets 10th shorter just to see what happen, which now looking at my score of 187 2 x was a very bad ideal and like Barry said I bet you won’t make that mistake again. It probably was a bad choice but after getting home and studying a screen shot of my target I had a pretty tight group that were just right of the ten ring so I’m going to blame my bad wind reading as just as much fault.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.Relay 3
This was an interesting relay for me I thought this relay had the worst conditions of the day I was holding different on almost every shot and looking at the target screen shot it looked like I had shot it with buckshot BUT it was centered and 15 where in the 10 and X rings and only 4 in the 9 ring and one in the 8 ring for a score of 194 6XToday was a fun match for me, thanks for all the hand shakes and thumbs up for my 199 I think it even put a smile Wynne’s face or maybe his smile came after my 187.
Today was another great day of shooting with old friend and new friends
I hope all the Out-of-towners will return even when it’s not a V2 and just 600 yard match.
As normal This narrative was not proof read or spell checked -
