ParticipantWell as always it was good to back shooting with friend at Reese Bottoms amen! Even shooting a week later thanks Mr. Wynne for rescheduling this. And somewhat glad to back to 600. The 1k matches pushes me and my equipment to its limit.
Last month I had a couple shots with lower than normal velocity and when I started processing my brass I discovered why I had some brass that had been reloaded one to many times which resulted in case body splits. So I spend time doing a little case culling and took a box of new 6br
brass for DJ to hydoform. I always like to fire new hydrofomed normally with powder, bullets and primers that don’t use for Competition one time to fully form to my BrX chamber Which I normal use to prefoul a cleaned barrel the week of the match. Like I said I always feel more relaxed when we are shooting @600 and I felt good for today’s match which always a plus. One of the things I have been working on is my positioning on the bench and trying to get a better follow though in the shot process that’s still a work in process. With us moving up to 600 and the way guys are shooting I figure the scores would very high and a shooter could need a couple 200 relays to finish in the money and boy was I wrong!
On to the match:
When called to the line I had the scope dope I used at the last 600 match and my 1st. Sighter was a 9 which didn’t bother me at the time but what did have me scratching my head what is the fact the next four sighters were a mixture of 8’s and 9’s but hey ready or not I going for score. And glad someone else is pushing the “for record” button. And it’s funny my 1st shot for score was an X followed by an 8. And then my normal mixture of 9’ 10’s and X’s then about shot 18 A other 8 popped up for a score of 189 6X which didn’t put a smile on my face and my next two relays were not much better at 193 and 192 for a total score of 574 14x which could be close to my lowest 600 score in a long time. But I put Full blame on the one pulling the trigger!
I went ahead and ran the numbers which was not a true avg. because Albert had problem and after the 1st. Relay didn’t shoot his next two So take that enclued
My score 574 14
Open the avg. was 587 24x so well below avg. but the FTR of 513 18
That Put total match avg. at 550 21X s so I did finish with above total match avg. but below on X count.
My congratulations to the winners Scott had a great shoot and Congrads to Mr. Allen on his 200 the only one of the day.
I left the match and went to our annual family crawfish boil, I finished about Avg. on that we had some big time “ eaters” there and maybe a few that eat a “200” lol.
Thanks for a fun day see you in July
