Not long ago shooter were trying to match Lot #’s of the bullets, powder and primers to the same lot # that had or been using. Kinda seams like now if a shooter need say Varget he’s now happy just to get Varget no matter what Lot # it is. lol I’m not going to stop shooting because I don’t have a certain lot #. Kinda like on one of the shooting forums they wore out the topic of seating depth no now they started one “does seating depth really matter”!
Just middle of the week rainy day rambling hope your having a great Thursday

I’ve seen the video where he shot a perfect 200. I kept thinking he would say it was a joke.

These are just my personal opinions and observations….
Powder can vary slightly by lot number, especially with certain powders that aren’t very temp stable, but when I can get near the end of a jug, I open the next one, regardless of lot number, dump it in the new one and shake it up and mix it around. Powder consistency seems to be pretty solid these days. It’s always best to test after you change one variable.
Bullet lot #’s do vary some but for example if I’m jumping .010, then I’ll get a new bullet and measure what that measurement to touch the lands is and set it accordingly. BTO seems be the variance I see the most.
I’ll also mention I’ve seen several different ways to skin a cat regarding seating depth, jamming, jumping, etc and whatever you find success in, just be consistent and test it thoroughly.

Ppl are glad to get what they get and I wouldn’t stop shooting either, I was just saying test it out before you go so there’s no surprises. Lol. I seldom comment on any other forums for the exact same reason Mr. Richard.

I’ll throw this out there… Once I find a seating depth, I usually don’t change it for the life of the barrel.

But yeah, I won’t mix lots of anything in a string or big match. If I’m trying something different, I’ll try it out at a local match to see if it holds up for a full string.

If I get different lots I mix them and go shoot a test target they are always dead on.
