The boys and I will be doing some testing on the Dasher, I have 3 different bullets. I have some Sierra 107’s, some Berger 105 VLD Target and some Berger 109 Long Range Hybrid Target bullets. I have some CCI 450 Mag Small Primers, CCI small BR-4 and some Federal Gold Metal Match Small Primers. I have on hand Varget Powder and some RL15 Powder and will be using Alpha Brass. My barrel is a Bartlein 7.5 twist at 31 inches long, chamber was cut by Tooter and has 104 free bore.
I’m just looking for a starting point that is different from my current load that we have shot and not done a lot of testing on. So far we have shot 32.5 grains of Varget with the Sierra 107, I did shoot the limited class in Como with a 194 score and feel the Dasher will do a lot better.
Just looking for a little help from some of the Dasher shooter out there, Skyelor or August will be shooting the Dasher along with the 6BRX.

I just ordered 200pcs of Lapua brass for mine but I’m shooting Alpha brass now.

      Alpha Dasher brass
      CCI 450
      Berger 105 Hybrid
      33.0gr Varget @ 3035
      33.2gr Varget @ 3080

      Both shoot one hole groups.

You need to be at or over 3000fps mine opens up a lot if I’m below 3k.

Surrell, I will tell you more after I shoot these left over bullets thru the crony. Was fixing to go to Reese Bottom and shoot them but it has clouded up and I wanted to shoot them in a heavy mirage. I can say this. I am right there with Ron on his data except I do shoot Lapua brass. As for Varget, I have two different lot numbers that are clocked about 65 fps different at 1000 yards so maybe chase the speed with your lot of powder. I just looked at the load data that was registered during the load workup and the 105’s are leaving the muzzle just over 3000 fps. I also checked Ron’s average speed vs mine at the target on Saturday and I was getting there a little faster than he was. Probably a bullet thing??? Find out what gets you to 3000 fps. and maybe do a ladder test 2, 4, 6 tenths below and 2, 4, tenths above. Hopefully you find something really good and then play with seating depth and neck tension and then bring the thing to Reese Bottom and get in a fight with all these 7’s.

I think that I overheard you say that you had a SHOTMARKER coming, so if you really want to find out the truth, do your load development at 1000 yards. The findings will be interesting, but not in one-hole groups. The fun is in the trying and good luck. WWE

Shot marker is my next purchase after a barrel.

I ran my Xero on the last target here is my numbers with 33.0gr Varget. No idea why the date is wrong on it.

Surrell, there is a good node down where you’re at but there’s also a good one where Ron and Wynne mentioned. 33.0-33.4 has always been where mine liked it at. Do a jump test from 10-30 off and somewhere in between it will shoot. I like Cci 450 personally and lapua brass.

I forgot to bring up the Alpha brass that you mentioned. Someone told me that the case dimensions are a little different than most reamers and if someone is going to shoot Alpha brass they might want to pair it with an Alpha reamer. You can inform the forum later as to how this works out. The Lapua BR brass has to be reformed for the dasher, but for a good shooter choosing to go that route I highly recommend DJ’s Brass Service in McCalla, Al. Daryl does a wonderful job and it saves effort and barrel. I have noticed his ads on Accurate Shooter. Yellow trumps Green. Good luck with this. WWE

I’ll be sending this new batch of Lapua to DJ for hydro forming and turning. I’ve not had any problems with the Alpha brass in my chamber it’s turned for a .266nk

Surrell, I shot 21 leftover rounds last Monday. The Garmin had them leaving at 3005 fps avg. and Shotmarker had them arriving at 1000 yards at 1540 fps avg. Don’t forget that your rig and mine might not be exactly the same. Good luck. WWE
