Please visit the “Events Page” as I have just updated things for 2023. Before we get into this year’s events, I would like to hear some of your honest thoughts on the way things are done at Reese Bottom. What do you think about the ‘Pairs Matches’? 40 shots vs 60 shots? The way we run the relays? What we have to eat? How much we charge to shoot? Is the potty clean? Speak now or forever be mute. If you do not want to go public, call me on the cell 334-654-2462. I will say more about the February match around the first of the month. Please promote our matches. I would love to entertain from 20 to 24 good shooters each month. One thing will be new this year. At the November match we will use the yearly results to crown a ‘Shooter of the Year’ in both the Open and the FTR divisions. I’ll say more about this in a later topic. Load um up!! WWE

I just tried to send a group email to all the forum members. I have not done this lately and hopefully it went as intended. If any of you respond to the above, please mention wither or not you got the email so that I can be sure that it went through. Be advised that it is not spam. WWE

Mr. Wynne I really look forward to the teams match each years one of my favorite , I’ve not lost any weight from the meals and I enjoy the fellowship at the table.
40 vs. 60 who knows what this years will bring as for as reloading components maybe alternate 40 and 60 either way I think I have this year covered. I like the shooter of the year ideal as long as a shooter helps his cause by making more matches. Maybe you could have ugliest gun of the year I might have a shot at that lol.
Thank you for sharing RB and allowing me to be a part of it.
Counting the days till I’m shaking some of my RB friends hands

      the food is great.

the e mail i have not received yet.

the team match i don’t feel it’s a team match unless we pick our team mates one of the rules of reesebottom is come to compete.

the round count a f class match is a (Marathon) not a sprint 3×20 shot in 3 different relays and to be honest i would like for a relay to be that everyone shoots one relay at a time yeah i know it would take a little more time but then no group would possibly have a advantage of good conditions and the next not so much
i will say your range your rules but you did ask.

Richard and Brett thanks for the comments. What I thought was a mass email turns out to be a public notice to those that log onto the website. I hope that when you logged on the yellow notice appeared across the page. I am trying to reach all of the good shooters that have gotten out of the habit of attending the matches and invite them back. So, if you do not receive an email invite, assume you are on the list of regular attendees. WWE

I honestly enjoy shooting at your range, the people are great and food is good.
I prefer to shoot 40 round matches or less because of money and finding components I need at the time. Hope to see y’all soon.

      The food is great

I got the notification as soon as I logged in

I agree with Brett on the team matches I enjoy them but feel like we should pick our team but i also understand that could get hard with different amounts of different guns

As far as 40 vs 60 shots 3 relays of 20 is what defines f class that being said I do like the match moving on and getting on home as quickly as I can but if everyone is on target and does their job its not much longer. The last 2 matches of 3 relays moved on quickly. Like has been said come prepared to compete.
I enjoy reese bottom and thank you for having us I look forward to seeing yall soon.

I enjoy shooting at Reese bottom. I agree with Brett I would more enjoy shooting 60 rounds and would like to have a paired match where we can pick our own partners, but I will do whatever is decided

We need to expand the conversation about the pairs matches. I honestly never considered this a team match, only something different. To everyone wanting to pick your partner, do you want an open division + ftr division or mixed rifles? I’m thinking one or the other.
I will never agree for anyone to be left out, but me, so we have to allow for our bench shooters. I would think that if we went the pick your partner, mixed rifles direction that I would suggest an A & B division trying to keep things fair for all. I asked for your opinion and if your opinion differs from my opinion, Be Nice. WWE

I’m some understand the pick your partner route but who’s doing the picking after the match announcement do you just get on the phone calling people asking to be your partner, If I call someone and they say no do I just keep calling till some one says yes, and maybe on the other end what if no one picked me or I might get my feeling hurt cause I’ll be the last one to get picked cause I come up a little short on barrel length. Are some one bring a world champion that has never shoot at RB! I’m fine with luck of the draw: the open guys draw numbers then the FTR guys draw numbers the 1’s are pair one and the 2’s pair two etc. might have to do a another drawing for bench shooters. Just rambling thoughts from just an average shooter. But I will go with the flow and be happy just to get to shoot.

richard what i would rather see and do is is just leave it like it is let wynne pick our partner and just call it a fun shoot take the competition out of it and simply enjoy the day and have fun shooting

At bar 3 you get put in groups for a specific target number and once the line goes hot it doesn’t go cold unless there is a problem so if you are next in line at your target when the guy before you is done with his relay he picks up and you set up all while the others are finishing their relays and when you are ready you start your sighters and when ready you push your own button to go for record the line never goes cold really speeds things up and runs very smooth I know it would have to go cold to swap to benches and stuff but it would help speed things up and make sure we got to shoot an actual 3×20 fclass match. I’ve never shot a 600 and may never lol but would be nice to have the opportunity to .

i agree with chase the bar3 system works great. everyone is informed before the match on what they are expected to do and it goes very smoothly. i do feel that this would greatly improve the flow of the match. and he has another good point i would love to someday get a 600 i have been so close quite a few times i know it coming its like getting your first 200 it’s hard but then it gets better i hope 😂 but if we don’t have 3×20 matches it will never happen.

Good point by Chase and Brett, I would think everyone that shoots FClass has a hope of shooting a 600 someday I know I do! Like I stated earlier I have all I need to shoot the 2023 season at all 60 round matches and 60 round matches is the only way I can shoot for my dream of a clean 600 and I know my chances are slim but I’m not giving up on that dream just yet. This is the only hobby I have now and peddle to the metal until my kid put me in “one of them homes” but I can only speak for me not sure how others are doing on components but I will do what ever is decided with a smile on my face and a congratulations to the winners!!!

I like the team matches. It does not matter how teams are formed. Assigned or pick your own.

I would like to see some pair firing at the team matches.

I would also like to suggest following the v2 format.

Let me start out by saying I had a great time shooting back in November, the food was outstanding and the fellowship and I look forward to hopefully being able to make more matches this year.

I prefer shooting a 3×20 but that’s mainly because of the drive I have. A pairs match by luck of the draw or however is fun, an actual team match I could see picking partners and it would have to be categorized or mixed due to squadding problems.

I am not a fan of making the line hot for the whole match like they do at bar3 for several reasons. One, the amount of time it takes one person to shoot could be 3 mins for an entire string and another might take 20, so in 15 mins an entire relay could be completed and then you get into the whole argument of shooters not shooting in the same conditions. Second, barrels don’t have a lot of time to cool down. Third, that’s not how typical fclass matches are ran, each individual string should be started and stopped. The thing that speeds matches up are having competitors ready to put their stuff down as soon as the string is over and not waiting around. Having a 5 min pre prep time, 2-3 min prep time then going hot again. Palo Alto in Louisiana runs matches very efficiently this way. Just my opinion.

Pair firing is fun and I believe shotmarker is capable of running that format, probably have to contact Adam. Side note, if you ran a 3×20 then a 2×15 pair fire match (1000 yd only) afterwards that would count towards the v2 points race. No one has to to shoot the 2×15 if they don’t want to. There has to be 5 shooters in a category to be able to mail in results for credit. I know that’s a lot of shooting in a day but it would attract more shooters, I always have ppl asking me where they can go to shoot matches to get v2 credit. Typically, it’s Houston, tx at bayou rifles or a big regional or state match, not anywhere convenient. I completely understand if there would not be a lot of interest in that, just throwing it out there.

I might also suggest having an unlimited/set number of sighters and 25 min time limit for each string or all unlimited sighters that way the shooter can be ready when they feel comfortable but having less sighters makes it more interesting sometimes. Lol.

It doesn’t matter to me what is decided or how the match is ran, I’ll go with the flow and I’m going to have a good time regardless. Mr. Wynne, you run it how you see fit.

With all these young guys with good eyesight showing up maybe we need a Sr.’s division. Like age 69 and above ?

In fclass there is a senior (60-70) and grand sr division (70+).

      Hello 2023 Reese Bottom,

I saw your Email when I signed in.
I like shooting so the 3×20 rounds is good for me. As for team matches, what if we had our regular individual shooters and at the end of the regular match if there were pairs volunteering for teams and teaming up on there on, let them shoot 10 rounds each 20 total rounds for team. It. Shouldn’t take that long, and they could put up extra money in the pot for it. Best team wins it. As the food, who can complain, the amount of money we pay to come and spend the day shooting and good friend ship all catered to us, be glad to get what we get. I don’t think you’ll find any where else. Lol, the senior class, most of us will shoot together, I believe. Shooting a hot range, I think may cause some safety issues as close as we are shooting, and too with the benches behind us,I believe we need to keep it like it is. You come prepared to stay for the match if it’s two hours long or lots longer, you worried about how soon you can get back home, think about what it takes to get ready for the match and what all is involved with it, like cutting grass, making sure batteries and lap tops are charged, gas for generator, food for the morning, food for lunch, setting up the range the morning of, and pick up and clean up afterwards, and so I’m very glad to have that with no grips. I know this is a long post and I’ll get off the soap box now. But I greatly appreciate having a place like Reese Bottom ,and Mr Wynne makes it work for all of us, thank you and looking forward to the new season with what ever rules or ideas we have.
