Well, it’s good to be back with friends at Reece Bottoms.
Over the last couple years with all that has happened I have struggled with my shooting and the thought of can I still do this maybe it time to give it. With skipping the June match it gave time to stop and think about that and I made call take this break and and see if you can fix the problem so I basically started from scratch. I pull out a bolt action 22lr. Pistol and started like it was day one of my shooting. Shooting that 22 out to 200 yards. Dissecting every part of the shooting process and what I discovered was not being 100% consistent with the shoot process which is a lot different shooting a hand gun at long distances than a rifle because you can’t shoot “ free recoil” especially with a center fire handgun if you value your nose! So with this off month I’ve burnt some powder both with the rimfire and centerfire and work on my shot process and follow though. And I think I’m making head way so this months match gave me a chance to see.
      On to the match:
The load blessed us with window too have great weather to get the match in! The first shot( Sighter) is always pucker factor and especially this one but very relieved that the first Sighter was a 10! After three more sighters I felt good to go. My first 8 shoots for score were a mixture of X’s and 10’s before a 9 popped up and later two more 9’s but I finished strong with the last 5 shots 4 X’s and one 10 for 1st relay of 197, 8 X’s which made me feel good. Second relay I started a little shaky first Sighter was 9 followed y two 10’s and another 9 but hey ready or not I going for score.
First shot was a 10 but followed by two 9’s so I stopped and did a liitle motivational talk to my self and then shot fourth straight X’s and one 10 then another 9! So another talk to my self which got me 3 straight X’s
Before the next 9. I stopped took a breath which got a 10 but then 3 straight 9’s ok let’s just finish strong which last 3 shots were two X’s and a 10 for my low relay of the day but my highest X count which was 9 X’s
So before the next relay I pulled my self off to the side and had a heart to heart talk to me and the results another 197 with 5 X’s with a strong finish with the last 6 shots a mixture of 10’s and X’s which made me feel better.
Thinking on the ride home I learned some things from that 193 relay one thing that relay I had a SD of 20 on the two 197’s my SD was 20 so I’m going to investigate that. But today I was encouraged that I’m headed in the right direction to get me back where I was 3 years ago
Thank you Wynne for all you do and for your support.
