  • I plan to announce the March shoot this Sunday night. It will be a 3 X 20 X 1000. We take up to twenty good shooters with four able to shoot from a bench. We will close registration at twenty or on Thursday night March 13 at 7:00 pm., whichever comes first. We always look forward to meeting new shooters at Reese Bottom. WWE

  • I have shot the 6mm dasher lately. Something else that I forgot is that after letting the Kroil soak in the neck, I have a 30 cal. brass brush that I spin in the throat. Seems to eliminate any type of carbon ring. Just me, WWE

  • Richard, lots of these fellas must be shooting dirty barrels. For me, most months Suze and I leave after the match and go to Gulf Shores. That being said, it is usually a week or so before I clean the rifle. I saturate a bore mop with Kroil and run four wet ones down the barrel and then wet the thing good and leave it in the neck for a time.…[Read more]

  • I noticed some time ago that my left ear does not hear as well as my right ear and I sure want to protect what I have. On Saturday, I wore my custom plugs and muffs together and I came home with the darndest headache. After the match, I felt like I had had a cactus stem stuck in my ears all morning. Anyone have the perfect solution. If so,…[Read more]

  • I have updated the home page, photos page, and the results page. Some not so familiar faces involved. As you can see, we only had a total of eight good shooters. Lots of room between there and twenty. Please help promote Reese Bottom and thanks for your support. WWE

Weather permitting, we will shoot at 1000 yards the third Saturday in March.…[Read more]

  • “Still concerned about have to come that full MOA we’ll see how that plays out next month.” Please take this for what it is worth. I shot the dasher this past Tuesday morning about 11:00 am and the dope that I used Saturday morning was up one moa + 1 click from what I had used on Tuesday, all things the same. If nothing is changed during the l…[Read more]

  • 7:30 Friday night. There is a chance of showers tonight but hopefully the morning will be okay. I took a load to Reese Bottom this afternoon and things are as good as they can be. The water has been across the road in a place or two so watch yourself on the way in. If anything changes during the night, please check here before leaving home. WWE

  • We have nine good shooters registered for our match on Saturday. Five in the Open division and four FTR shooters. The weather seems unstable so please keep a watch. The creek got out yesterday and it will definitely be muddy. If things change for the worst, I will post something on here by 5:00 am Saturday morning. Hope to see everyone on…[Read more]

  • Richard Allen, Open Bench, 6.5 X 47
    Pat Simpson, Open, 6.5 Creedmore
    Wynne, Open, 6mm Dasher

The wife just brought it to my attention that we are predicted to get 5 to 6 inches of rain this week so please follow the weather and keep up with me here on the website. As promised above, I will not cancel a match unless absolutely necessary, but I…[Read more]

  • Something that I forgot to mention in the post above. Many of you register for our matches several days in advance and I thank you. We often do not know that far ahead of our matches what the weather might be like. I am asking that if there is any doubt about the weather the day of the match that you, as a registrant, please check here before…[Read more]

  • Reese Bottom will host a long-range prone match on Saturday February 15, 2025. The match will be 3 X 20 X 1000 yards. The matches this year will be run the same as the previous year. Please arrive by 8:00 am so that we are shooting by 9:00 am. Our matches are not sanctioned but will be run as closely as possible to a sanctioned match. No…[Read more]

  • We hope all is well with everyone and that you all are getting things ready for a great year of shooting. I have updated the ‘Events Page’ with this year’s dates. Nothing has changed for this year other than the dates. Several good shooters have gotten out of the habit of shooting. You know who they are and if you happen to see any of them,…[Read more]

  • Barry, looking forward to getting started in the new year. Going to put a new barrel on the .308 and hopefully shoot some FTR. My only shooting has been at a mama hog. Good to get her, bad she had 11 little ones. I hope that everyone has had a wonderful holiday season and is ready to get back to shooting. The third Saturday in February will…[Read more]

  • Surrell, I shot 21 leftover rounds last Monday. The Garmin had them leaving at 3005 fps avg. and Shotmarker had them arriving at 1000 yards at 1540 fps avg. Don’t forget that your rig and mine might not be exactly the same. Good luck. WWE

  • I am not a good one to be talking about conditions, but I do know that things often change quickly at Reese Bottom. I also think that a good shooter has to make the best of his situation during his relay time. At most ranges, shooters in a division all shoot their relays at the same time. At Reese Bottom with only the four targets, shooters in…[Read more]

  • Good to read these off season topics on the website. Keep up the good work. I hope all is well with you good shooters and Suze and I wish you a Very Merry Christmas. We are getting a new Bartlein 5R barrel for the .308. Going to give N150 powder a try. I read a recent post by a fellow that won the FTR division at some national match using…[Read more]

  • I forgot to bring up the Alpha brass that you mentioned. Someone told me that the case dimensions are a little different than most reamers and if someone is going to shoot Alpha brass they might want to pair it with an Alpha reamer. You can inform the forum later as to how this works out. The Lapua BR brass has to be reformed for the dasher,…[Read more]

  • Surrell, I will tell you more after I shoot these left over bullets thru the crony. Was fixing to go to Reese Bottom and shoot them but it has clouded up and I wanted to shoot them in a heavy marage. I can say this. I am right there with Ron on his data except I do shoot Lapua brass. As for Varget, I have two different lot numbers that are…[Read more]

  • The November Long Range Prone match is the last match to be held at Reese Bottom for the 2024 shooting season. Thank you to all of the good shooters that attended the matches and made the 2024 season such a hugh success. Be sure to visit the home page, results page, and the photo page for the updates. I really appreciate the kind words spoken…[Read more]

  • Registration is closed for the November Long Range Prone Match. This is our last match of the 2024 season. We ended up with nineteen good shooters. Fifteen shooting in the Open Division and four shooting in the FTR Division. We will have five relays for the first time in a long time so plan to be after lunch getting done.
