ParticipantThe first match is in the books, from what I heard the conditions were pretty sporty. Anything you’re going to change going forward or learned something and will apply it at the next match? Looking forward to shooting with you all next month.

ParticipantAfter the last match, which was a total disaster for me along with the last couple 1k matches. I have spent the week looking for answers why I’ve been 1 full turn off So I decided to start from scratch or starting from ground zero might be a better term. In doing so I found several discrepancies in both me and my scope so I decided just to see and really start from scratch I switch scopes with one I had that’s a twin to what I had been using which right now looks to have helped so I’m in the process of correcting some problems and putting safeguards in place to keep it from happening again. By doing this I’ve also corrected a few problems in my shooting process. My main goal is to not be A burden to Mr.Wynne or be a distraction to the other shooters. A side plus is it could also improve my scores. After a few more range days I should know if my thinking and what I’m seeing was right and my corrections worked, but only the next real 1K match will answer those questions and help give me my confidence back. But if problem not solved I will not shoot just do what I can to help with match and enjoy the day with friends
And again, I would like to thank the shooters of Reese Bottoms and Mr. Wynne for your support over the last 3 years of my life -

KeymasterBarry, thank you for starting this topic. I did not shoot the last match, but I did learn a few things. First, thirteen weeks ago today I had the hand surgery and since then I have not felt my best. I am to have blood work done tomorrow morning and we are hoping that some little easily fixable something will be determined. Honestly, I think I have reacted to the anesthesia in some way.
I have received permission from the committee to make three changes to the March Long Range Prone Match. First, I would like to be shooting by 8:30 am. Secondly, rather than the shooter trying to mash the “For Record Button”, plans are to have someone at the computer do it. Turn and get their attention, tell them you are ready for record and them give you the command that you are ready to shoot your twenty record rounds. This should not take but a second and we should make sure it gets taken care of. I have done this myself and seem to see the button fail to get punched at least once each match. Thirdly, I plan to get out the big red clock. We have a new generator and I hope the clock still works. Most of you know that the old generator was stolen. Until now, we have limited the number of sighters. Now we plan to limit the time. Unlimited sighters plus twenty for record within twenty minutes. It’s your time, do with it as you please but if the clock counts down and the record string is not complete, each remaining shot will be scored a zero. For those that might come unprepared, your time to get ready will be a part of your first twenty minutes. Let’s say it takes a good shooter nineteen minutes to get ready and only shoot three for record, you get three scores and seventeen zeros, but you are welcome to stay and shoot the second and third relays. I would highly recommend that a good shooter shooting at Reese Bottom have a good 100 yard zero. That way if you have shot other places and not returned your turrets to go, you should have plenty of time to turn back to your 100 yard zero and start all over within the allotted time. Remind me to always have a target at 100 yards just in case. A 200 yard zero should be an inch or so high at 100 yards. Most of the problems that I see with this involve being off by complete revolutions. Being off by a complete revolution at 1000 yards will never be on the target. And remember, Mr. Richard keeps me happy every month, the rest of you only have to keep yourself happy by coming prepared to shoot well. WWE

KeymasterClick to enlarge. I guess there is know way to determine when it happened, but I have a hunch. At least we made the rest of the match without a hiccup. “Good Wire”. I did hear a good shooter mention that he plugged all of the weather info into his ballistic program and the program said that he should have eight inches of wind drift. Then if I heard correctly, he dialed in eight moa at 1000. Hopefully I misunderstood. WWE

ParticipantI’m glad the committee gave you permission to make these changes and especially if somebody else is gonna push my button.
I like the drama that the clock adds. Maybe the committee will allow one prematch shot at 100 to foul and pre warm barrel. I don’t think I was the one with the windage problem. All mine is were elevation problems, but if there was any chance I shot the wire, let me know how much, and I will gladly pay for a replacement. Every match my goal is to see that Mr. Wynne and the committee leaves with the same smile they came with sometimes I failed that, but better days are ahead -

InactiveI think 99.99% of the regular shooters that shoot at Reese Bottom never have problems at 600 or a 1000 unless a firing pin-spring or scope goes bad. I think some new shooters that never shot a F-Class 600 and a 1000 is where most our problems come from, but we all have to start somewhere. I think the new shooters to F-Class should have to some sort of qualifying to shoot either 600 or a 1000. I’m not for someone shooting beside me to have problems and then have 3 to 6 people trying to help that person get on target, talking to him telling that person to do this or do that. Last match I could hear a lot talking when I was shooting for score and sometimes that will mess will the shooters mind when the conditions are playing tricks on your bullet.
