Mr. Wynne in his last statement on one of his post talked about bringing a bundle of his efforts to the matches to collect an significant collection of 9’s that got me thinking(that’s scary ) in the last few week on here we have discussed how guns, ammo and accessories have greatly improved and that has help with higher scores. Has that somewhat leveled the playing field. Is it now coming back to the 3rd part of the equation the shooter?
Which in my case I feel like I’m the weak link more that what I shoot and what I shoot out of it. And like I’ve said lately I’m having trouble putting in a 100% mental focus in every shot of every relay. In former times ( a phase I learn from a German friend of mine) I would make a call on the conditions be it wind, mirage etc then based on that sight alignment, tigger control and follow thought after the shot, but now my brain don’t process data fast and I lose my mental focus there is a chance I may miss a step or read and the bullet does not go where I had planned lol 😝
Then I over react and there’s a second 9. I’m sure this has never happen to any of you lol. In the end to me shooting is a 3 part harmony, you got to have a gun capable ammo capable and a shooter capable. I’m through rambling I’d like to hear your rambling thoughts and what your shot process is.

I will tell you there are times I have a collection of 9’s and it’s from being hard headed, stupid mistakes or my mind is telling me what I’m seeing is not there but then the shot says otherwise. Lol. It’s hard to get yourself to pull over out of the 10 ring and let them fly. It takes practice.
This is what works for me. I like to be repetitive in my setup and have a few mental checks before I pull the trigger every time so at least all of my gear is set the same every time I pull the trigger. Example, making sure my rifle is pushed back up and settled in place. As far as attempting to read the wind, sometimes I feel like I’ve got a hold on it and other times I’m lost or struggling to see what’s going on. In Phoenix last year the wind gusted and I thought I held enough, not so, it was an 8 out the other side. The wind stopped and went the other direction and I didn’t believe it and I shot another 8 on the opposite side (windshield wiper 8’s) where I was holding. This was due to over reaction on my part but I stopped, gathered myself, and was able to finish the string without a complete train wreck.
Then there is the confirmation 9 following a 9 that you thought couldn’t be the condition and had to have been the load but when the second 9 pops up then you know something out there was causing that. It happens but I think if we get mad (rightly so) we don’t learn anything. I’m guilty of that but sometimes it isn’t our gun, it’s the inability to decipher what’s going on down range. My wife always used to tell me after a bad string, just calm down and shoot your game because she knew that if I got flustered the train wreck was coming. Don’t be afraid to experiment and see what works for you. I’ve been shooting for several years now and I always try and learn something new every time I go to the range.

For some reason I seem to be more at ease other places than I am at Reese Bottom when it comes time to shoot. I have come a long way but still have a ways to go. When we went from 600 to 1000 this fall I shot the first match and never adjusted the parralax. Stuff like that is what gets me in trouble. WWE
