Well, here we go again. Reese Bottom will host a long-range prone match on Saturday February 21, 2026. The order of fire will be 3 X 20 X 1000. We are upping the entry fee from $25 all the way up to $30. Reminder: there is no ATM at Reese Bottom so bring lesser bills. I would like to be shooting as close to 8 am as possible. If you are traveling in and know that you are going to be late, please let me know ahead of time and I can put you in a later relay. Signing in late and counting money are not my friend so please just use when necessary. We will now take up to 25 good shooters for an event. First in, win. Plans are to have an Open division, FTR division, and an all-new Bench division. At this time, I will only dedicate one relay[5 shooters] for the bench division. The division will accept both Open and Ftr rifles, but all calibers will compete as one division. As always, I will have a few drinks and a little something to eat. Excited to get back to shooting. I hope the February weather co-operates. I have been sent pictures from some of our good shooters about their weather experiences.[not good] need a spring thaw. Please claim your spot for the February match here in this topic. name, division, caliber, please. I just noticed we have an extra week here. If you know of a good shooter that is not forum savvy, please remind them to get registered by Thursday night, February 19th at 7:00 pm. WWE

Surrell will not make this month, I tried to shoot this past weekend, did not go well. I have been having problems with my neck for about the last 10 months. I ended up having to go to the Dr yesterday and the Dr done X-rays, saying all my hardware from the 2017 surgery is in place and could not give me an answer to why I’m having so much pain on the right side.

Not really sure but I’m thinking this guy has shot with up a number of times.

Michael Brian Powell, age 59, of Northport, Alabama, passed away Friday, February 6, 2026 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Bro. David Kelly will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.

He is survived by Heather Moore; daughter, Miranda McKee (Tyler); brother, John “Fred” Powell (Anita); and his grandchildren, Logan McKee and Bennett McKee. He was preceded in death by his parents, J M Powell and Lorraine Powell.

Michael Brian Powell loved a lot; his main hobby and passion was reloading. Above all, his life focused on his love for hunting, long range shooting, and most of all his family

Surrell, thank you for telling us about Michael. Sorry to hear this. He was always such a pleasure to be around.

Talked with Richard Allen yesterday. He has come along side his wife who is experiencing some health problems.

Wood Bench, if possible, they both will be shooting off of same rest. This would be the only way for me to keep from having to move their rest and set it back up.

Surrell, this is not real clear to me. I assume you are trying to sign both fellows up to shoot from a bench and use the same rest. If so, that will not work. I only intend to have one bench relay. There are two benches available at this time and you can claim them, but they will need their own rest and be able to shoot at the same time. WWE

Tuesday night February 17 at 8:45. The way that I am reading this is that the benches are full and we have 1 spot left.

The way that I am reading the weather forecast is that there is a chance of rain both Friday and Saturday, but it seems to be showers and not a gully washer which means we should be okay. If the creek is not across the road, we will shoot. WWE

Surrell, either one of those boys are welcome to use my rest if you need an extra one. Let me know if I can help

I was not even thinking about the bench just shooting a relay the way they normally do. They can shoot prone, need one to shoot one relay and the other shoot the next relay on same target, so I will only have to move their rest once after they both shoot. Let me know, I need to be with them while one or the other is shooting, I know the line will be crowded with a shooter and a helper trying to occupy one spot.

Surrell, I can see to it that your request for the boys is met. They will both be shooting in the Open Division. Your post above mentions a wooden bench. I’m still not clear about this. Are you wanting to shoot from the wooden bench? If so, the match is full. Please say for sure what Surrell’s intentions are. WWE

Weather: there is a good possibility that we will deal with wet conditions but the match will go on. As you all know, I like to have the information part ready before the match starts. If you are signed up for the match and determine the weather not to your liking, the sooner you decide the better. Thanks, WWE

Shooter. I understand your pain. A neck problem is what took me off the matt and on the bench. You can apply to NRA for a medical variance to shoot Fclass from a bench but it’s not a quick process.

As Barry is saying one of the boys can use his rest from the bench or they can shoot prone one after the other in different relays, so I don’t have to be moving each relay. Mr. Wynne I can do it whichever way it works best for the match. We could sit this one out if we need too, I know I got them signed up late, so just let me know. If we don’t shoot At Reese Bottom this month we will have to wait till next month. For some reason or another I was thinking it was a 600-yard match, my fault for not reading and understanding that part. No problem for us either way, that will just me more time to plan the next match. If you have someone else on a waiting list, we will be fine waiting till next month.

I’m just hoping I don’t have to have another surgery on my neck, if that happens the boys will not get to shoot for a while.

Wednesday February 18 around noon. Remember registration closes at 7:00 pm tomorrow night. At this time there are 4 spots open and 2 of the spots could shoot from a bench. I apologize for any miscommunication over the last couple of days. WWE

Sorry to be so late. Grandson playing middle school baseball. Registration is closed for the February Long Range Match. We have 21 good shooters registered. 3 on a bench, 13 open division, and 5 ftr’s. I ask you all to be ready to go by 8 am. With that said, I do not know what the weather is going to do. If it is raining at the start time, please leave your stuff in the vehicle until we can make arrangements to get things lined up. They say that it is going to rain but not sure when or how hard. The weather channel said 61% today and we got none and they are saying 61% Saturday so maybe that means none also. We will shoot at some point Saturday. See You Then, WWE
