Richard SlatonParticipantAfter reading some of my last few match reports I got to thinking it sounded like was making excuses which I didn’t mean it that way. I’m just telling a story of random of thoughts during the match, things that I was telling my self. What I was doing wrong, what I needed to change and whether I did it or not. Asking myself is what I tried working or not. The last few weeks I’ve had home heath therapists coming ever week working on different problem I face, from helping me get stronger too helping me with memory loss one of the things they told me to do was keep a daily diary I show her one my match reports and said that is basic what’s she is talking about write every thing that I did each day so I could go back and remember what I did each day soo I guess my match report is just a a diary entry of each match I shoot so I can go back and remember what I did. If you get the picture and now it’s part of my therapy.
I came to the match today with something new. I replace my firing pin and spring. I normally change the spring when ever I replace the barrel but this barrel has over 3000 rounds I keep putting off changing for various reasons. On our ride home last month Mr. Allen talked about the subject of changing the firing pin spring out and cleaning the inside of the bolt soo the next week the spring got changed and after today match which maybe my worst 1K ever the barrel will get changed next week and hopefully I we’ll get it dialed in before the November match! Calm down no one needs to be on upset alert it’s still will basically the same ole me shooting the same ole junk.
Like I’ve talked about recently I have really enjoyed watching FTR guys they have been Reece Bottom friends for years but when the line goes hot I see fire in their eyes but after the match they’re good friends. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 600 soon and the shooter of the year in FTR could come down to the last shot fired in November. As far as the Open guys we had some heavy hitters today and I expected some Fierce competition as well.
On to the Match:
Goal #2
Don’t cross fire, Don’t cross fire, Don’t cross fire, Don’t cross fire!!!
As alway my #1 goal make Mr. Wynne Smile (still haven master that one)
#2 Don’t cross fire. If I reach this one it could help with #1. And I did NOT cross fire matter of fact I don’t think anybody did. And I did see a small smile from Wynne because he won FTF.
Well the wind was blowing and only the best survived and shooters like me didn’t and like I stated this was probably my worst 1K match and somehow still finished 8th. And what’s funny I had a lot fun today and even won a knife. I look forward the the season finally next month when the new Shooters of the year are named. Congrads to the Winner and welcome to my world to the losers and it was good the see the new to us shooters hope they com back -

Richard SlatonParticipantSorry writing my match report got interrupted by Collage football, the meat of what happen during the match was I fought both the wind and my gun and they got the best of me. I hope to have the gun “fixed” by next match the wind will have to “fix” itself. Today is the lords day and HE is “fixing“ me.
