Richard SlatonParticipantI posted this in the match report but figured it should be a deferent post Wynne You bring up an interesting fact about scopes being used at Reese Bottom. You stated you started on 80x power on the 1st relay and shot 65 power on 2nd and 3rd. Relay. I up graded from a 32x scope to a new 50x scope and this was 1st. Time to use it at 600 yards. And pretty sure I shot the whole match at 50x. I up grade to the 50x mainly because I could not see a defined aiming point at 1k with the 32x scope I guess I’ll find out how it does when we go back to 1K. I know a lot of times shooters back the power down because of The mirage. All that being said
And body that come to this forum other than to sign up or check results I would like to hear what the maximum power your scope is and just normally what power do start a match at and as fore say the mirage increases do you back down on power or adjust holding point for the mirage and not back down on power. And then there’s those that use spotting scopes.
Take a few minutes to state what works for you . Let make Mr. Wynne have to buy a bigger data for this website.
I promise not to use anything you say to beat you in future matches -

Steve HowellParticipantThe Howells use March 8-80. Can’t beat that magnification when the mirage is low.

Barry HolcombParticipantMarch 8-80 here as well. If I can see well with 80x I’ll shoot it, I was somewhere around 50x on the last relay. I generally shoot the max amount of power that the mirage allows, it doesn’t have to be a perfect sight picture but I do need to be able to have a decent point of aim.
I wonder if there’s a way you could affix a mirage shield to your pistol? I imagine the heat off that barrel has to affect your sight picture towards the end of a relay. -

Richard SlatonParticipantThank y’all for posting. Barry I was thinking about that, with the sun shield on theirs only 4” of barrel passed the shield. With the heavy recoil it would have to be “heavily” attached lol. You did give me something to maybe look into thanks
