This is one those topic you see on “other” gun site that goes in all directions, just wondering which direction it would go on this site?
You get the “use a brush” -“don’t use a brush” / “use a paste” – “don’t use paste” plus all kinda sprays and foam. You got someone telling to do it one way and the next guy telling you what ever you do don’t do it that way lol
      It’s almost entertaining
You figure most deer Hunter shoot there deer rifle less in a life time than we shoot at just one or two match
Just trying to stir activity on this site in between match

I read on another site where a guy took a short cleaning rod with a bore brush put it on a drill and made a few passes through the chamber neck. Said carbon was gone. Another guy was talking about the free bore his rifle had which created a problem for carbon build up. Lots of opportunities for discussion.
What about cleaning a hot gun before you leave the range, maybe you could remove it before it sets up.

Ask 10 people and get 10 answers basically. And none of them are wrong. Butchs works well as a carbon solvent as well as copper. It’s according to how hard it is, I think, and not letting it build up to begin with is a common theme that I see. Any of it will work, but it generally requires a brush.
