Hope all had a happy Father’s day
After a good pre match range day I felt like prepaid to not only to be competitive but to fill all parts of the pinned “what’s expected”
After arriving at the match and talking with friends I set down in a chair and started my mental prep before being called to the line. When called I really felt good using the same dope as last match my 1st. sighter was a 10 followed by an X with my confidence high I’m ready to shoot for score. I guess I was a little over confident because on that 1st. shot for score I didn’t put a 100% in my follow though and was rewarded with a 9 LOL. Time to do a little come back to reality
And mind reset after doing this, my next 15 shots – 10 X’s and 5 10’s before another 9 popped up followed by 2 10’s and a final shot X for 1st. relay 198 an 11 X’s which got me a pat on the back good shooting from Mr. Wynne which put a smile not only on my face but his as well which always one of my goals. Between relays and after see the scores posted I thought was I’m still in this race then my thoughts turned to something else and when called back to the that reflected on my shooting with 4 sighters = 2 9’s and 2 10’s and my 1st. 8 shots for score had 5 9’s along with 1 10 and 2 x at that point I stopped clear my mind and said my motivation phase to my self and shot clean next 12 shots with 7 10’s and 5 X’s for a 2nd. Relay of 195 7x and a total score 393 18x for 4th in open
I consider my self as an average shooter and I run the numbers each month to see how I did I don’t just use open class but all shooters
Using x count tie breaker, I finished 4th out of the 14,
The avg. score was 390 Mine 393
The avg. x count was 14 I had 18
All above avg. so I’m a happy camper
Final thought: I was talking after the match about mentally prepared and got a laugh
But I prove to my self every match just how important it is
