ParticipantMr. Wynne yes, a little late but win lose or draw I will do my best to write my report
Sept. match report
I should title this report as “Range Rambling” Because that about all I did my shots rambled all over the target and I rambled trying to correct and this report is just a bunch of rambling
Saturday when I Left headed to the match I feel really prepared. Why? Because our last 1k match @ Reese Bottoms I felt I shot my best 1k match and that the new barrel was dialed in, backed up by a good match at Steve’s and because I was finally released to drive so I got to have a little prematch barrel fouling 100-yard range day. When John and I got to the range the condition looked very favorable as in little to no wind which really made me feel good. And just like that reality set in
Relay #1
At our last 1k match 29.75 was my setting so I just used even 30 as my starting point 1st.sighter shot was a very right and very high 8 So I back down to the 29.50 and added 2 clicks windage which put my next sighter in the X but the next 2 sighters again were high right 9’s so down one more and left one more click and my 5th sighter was an X Soo right now I’m second guessing which is not good. But hit or miss I’m shooting for score. My 1st 4 shoots all 9’s and best I remember high right so more click down and left which again produce 2 10’s So I’m starting to see a pattern and I think I know the culprit I’ve been down this road before it’s not the load, its not the gun It’s the shooter with inconstant grip pressure which with what I shoot can be a big problem. With this gun I can’t shoot “free recoil” I have to “grip” the gun or the scope will interduce itself to my forehead and produced red fluid. So relay1 was spend wondering lost in the desert. And was filled with a mixture of 8’s,9’s,10’s and 1 X for I think my lowest 1k relay score of 181.
Relay #2
I didn’t get a screen shot so I don’t know how the shots played out. But the results were a lot better
So now I’m at 28.75 full MOA lower than what I used last match and have added 1.25 MOA left windage and I’ve yet to find the “sweet spot” on my grip And I have “Rambled” all over the target So It’s time to try a different tactic: using Kentucky windage and playing pin the tail on the Donkey, My second relay
I shot (for me) a respectful 193 4x for a total of 374 5X Which was NOT last placeMain thing I came thinking I was ready to complete and we had I think pretty good weather and I ended up lost and wandering in the Desert. And still had a great time.
I’ve been blessed to have shot 26 matches @ Reese Bottoms for a total of 1273 rounds and 200 of those @ 1K
Thank you, Mr. Wynne, for letting me shoot “that thing I shoot” At Reese Bottom
Congads to Surrell and Ron the win and clean relays
