March 2014 600 Yard Mid-Range Match Results
ResultsReflections From Yesterday
The first ever Backwater Custom Rifle sponsored Mid-Range Prone match is now in-the-books. Seventeen shooters braved the harsh conditions at Reese Bottom. For me, it was my second ever prone match and I came away knowing that there is a lot yet to be learned. I prepared my lunch, brought two cameras, mat, spotting scope, computer, and every other thing except a properly prepared rifle. After the first relay(183) I was really down on prone shooting, the target was very unstable and I had 3 shots that I could not figure out where they came from. Between relays I realized that my Bell & Carlson adjustable stock had not been adjusted and that in haste I had even forgotten to dial out the parallax(see video) and I also decided that I was going to shoot off of the wind flag at the 470 yard mark. Guess what, relay two came in at 195, quite an improvement. Cannot wait until May’s prone match to hopefully continue the improvement.
