Well it’s was great to be back shooting with friends at Reese Bottom and good to see a few new to me faces and it looks like the 7 max was well represented. The open class was filled to the rim with what 15 open shooters compared to only 4 good shooters in FTR, what’s up with that FTR guys?
After my normal week before match range day I felt pretty good to have “for me” a good 1k match.
Relay #1
It’s alway the pucker factor on that very 1st shot but my 1st. shot was an 9 glad I’m on paper! So on my 1st. Relay my sighters went 9,8,10,9 so ready or not I’m going for score and somewhat pleased that my shots were a mixture of 10’s and X’s and just a few scattered 9’s. It seamed like most of the shots were pushing to the right so I made a scope adjustment. my 1st. Relay score was 190 7x’sRelay #2
My 2nd relay sighters went 9,8,10 and my for score started with 2X’s then a mixture X’s and 9’s With the last 6 shots were all 9’s except for one 10,
For second relay of 191 6x’s which would end up my best relay of the dayRelay #3
I spent time in between relays doing a little “talk to my self” and tried a little different approach with how I adjusted my Joy-pod for each shot and I think it will work better in the future and had another score of 190 doing it.
Goals for 1k match which are a little lower than a 600 yard match:
#1 no 8’s or worst: I had one 8 but it was a Sighter
#2 keep all relays 190 and above: check
#3 new high relay for me @1k: nope
#4 finish strong, last relay was same as 1st. But neither were my high for the day which was just 1 point below middle relay which was my highest : so close but no cigar
#5 have fun and enjoy: that’s easy at Reese Bottom : check
#6 make Mr. Wynne smile: I think I saw him several time so check
#7 not come in last place: check
#8 more X’s than 9’s : not today
#9 new high 1k match score: nope
#10 don’t shoot the wrong target: check
#11 shoot a match average score: match average FTR was 583 and open worked out to 578 for a total match average was 581 My score was 571 so no but with the All star cast we have now the days of me “ shooting average “ is getting harder and harder so I may have to adjust that goal lol. But all in all I was somewhat happy with my score.
Congrads to the winner I enjoyed watching the stiff competition and big thumbs up to Nathan for winning “Top shot of the year” well deserved and Surrell on winning FTR shooters of the year and Well Mr. Said I won “Shooter of the year in open basically because in open I was the only one with any points that had made the min. Of 7 matches for the year. So that should be motivation to come every match and shoot!!
It’s always some what sad when it’s the last match of the year but it was a fun but challenging year. I look forward to spending time next year with my friends at Reese Bottom and thank you Mr. Wynne for all you do so we can come and enjoy the day shooting.

Richard, it’s people like you that make shooting at Reese Bottom so much fun.
For Mr. Wynne a very big Thank You and without you there would be no Reese Bottom, Mr. Wynne got Reese Bottom started in 2011 with some new concrete and target backers at 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 yards. Time goes by he created some pits at 600 yards and a little later he added the Shot Marker targets and the 1000 yard line and from that we have the very best place in Linden, Alabama called Reese Bottom to spend time with friends and shoot, have fun and eat a lunch together every the 3rd Saturday for 10 months of the year.
Thank you Mr. Wynne for what you have done to make all this possible for the people and building the place called Reese Bottom. I myself and the other shooters at Reese Bottom cannot Thank you enough for what you have done and what you do to make all this possible.
